DAY 1

Off to a good start in early morning, we nine vacationers put up our parasols and drifted along a relatively slow current. We passed under the bridge but did not see the condors.
It became apparent to us soon that the rafts were heavy and would need continiuous rowing and steering to avoid eddies and stay moving at the required rate to complete our
journey in time. As the day wore on, the temperature rose rapidly, amplified by the hot canyon walls and reflective water surface. We splashed ourselves often and copiously.
By evening, with no rapids or major challenges, we reached our first camp site, called "The Ledges", where we stumbled through the task of setting up all our camp amenities.
