UEX Challenge Coin
After creating the logo for this blockchain startup company, I decided to create a visual for the cryptocurrency, similar to what is done for Bitcoin. Here is the progression that led from graphics to CAD to a handsome physical coin made by the Challenge Coin Company.
I was working with an earlier version of our logo at first, with overlapping petals.
So I took this logo design and imagined it in relief.
The back started very simple and we were called UEN, for Network, at the time.
I tried a version on gold, but metal-izing our logo colors with it.
Then we made a significant change to our logo, and had to re-imagine at least the front, and edit the back. I flattened the blocks by 80% and was able to craft another relief based on the new logo.
About this time, I was liking the way the plain gold back looked better than the colored front. So I went to a plain gold front also.
And here is a 3D spin of my final coin design.
I contracted this respected coin stamping company, who sent me back this nice proof of my 3D DXF submission.
And the coins were delivered shortly later. Very shiny in the light, crisply detailed and heavy in hand. Here are photos.
