One08 is a company that develops subtle energy devices, on the verge of discoverable science. The Heart+ App is a unique one, in that it uses the chipset inside mobile devices to generate a subtle energy emission. The emission they call Quantum Code Technology is silent, and although not quite a solfeggio frequency, but does seem to have a soothing and enhancing effect upon living things within its range of broadcast.
The goal with the app is to achieve the Maharishi Effect, where it is shown that when 1% of a population raises its consciousness, that is enough to start the reaction to raise the other 99% with them. Thereby, the goal of the app was to be in concurrent use by 75 million people, or 1% of humanity...to see if the effects could become permanent.
The app itself uses a heart and an earth, as a gauge of how far along the experiment is. I animated the heart beating and the earth in a seamless rotation. The colors start off grayish and dull, and as more people sign up for the app, the more color appears in the earth. This wasn't easy, as it required several animation tracks that need to be transitioned between over time. Yet, I managed to optimize and compress the entire app down to a 26MB download.
The remaining screens on the app were designed to collect the daily mood of the user base, as an indicator of the effectiveness of the app in daily use. So I designed a set of icons for mood feedback.
